Collectors should be drawn to the heavy embossing, especially of the red elements, on this presentation Specimen. All zero serial numbers are seen on this modern French designed and printed note with polychrome colors.

This was one of the last issues printed in France for Lebanon, and a fitting end to such an artistically pleasing series. Vivid colors, full of beautiful details and designs! A true piece of art! Serial number is printed on the front of the note. Conjoined drinking horns at right, urn at left, Busson and Letayf of Ras Beirut signatures, value low centre and at each corner.

Reverse pale blue and multicolored, a view of Ras Beirut. City views on the reverse side. Different types of flowers inside the margins surround the image of the note. SERIAL NUMBER punch hole cancel.

You will not find a note like this in the next lifetime. This note is so rare, you will never see it again, Lebanon and Syria are going through a very rough time right now with war, the remaining of "specimen" notes like these will be extinct.

This is a note very desirable among collectors, don't look at the price now, think of the future. Making an investment now on such an exotic note like this, will not only quadruple its rareness, it will also be worth even more in 10 years from now! Lebanon's first banknotes were issued by the Bank of Syria and Greater Lebanon (Banque du Syrie et Grand-Liban) in 1925. Denominations ran from 25 girsha through to 100 pounds. In 1939, the bank's name was changed to the Bank of Syria and Lebanon.

The first 250 pound notes appeared that year. Notes for 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 pounds were issued. All notes feautires an Arabic side with the value in Arabic script numerals of large size. The other side is in French with the serial number in both Arabic and Latin script and in bar code below the latter one.
